Tony Elumelu is a Nigerian economist and investor who chairs Heirs Holdings, United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp). He is known for coining the philosophy of ‘Africapitalism’ – the idea that the private sector can drive Africa’s economic and social development. Through the Tony Elumelu Foundation, he has funded and mentored thousands of young African entrepreneurs across all 54 African countries.
